Painful sit-bones

The second but last ride I had I developed a painful lump right on the sit bone on the right side. I actually thought it was a blister but I'm now guessing it wasn't.

After a short 20 mile ride last night I got the same thing on the left side.

Nothing has changed since January, I'm still using the same seat. I'm using the same Gore bib tights. Would I be right in thinking that the washing of the gore bib tights has caused the material to "toughen" up causing rubbing then pain?

Would chamois cream be the simple answer.

Yours in pain

Or Bag Balm, also make sure you change out of your shorts straight after a ride and keep the area clean.

Slap some Sudocrem on and keep applying it until the sores have completely gone. Don't ride in the mean time.

Try raising the nose of your saddle to reduce the pressure on your sit bones and spread the weight around more. As a rule saddles should be dead level but it sounds as though yours needs adjusting quite a bit.

Chamois cream may help but for some of us it actually increases chafing for some stupid reason.

    This^^

A couple of mm to the tilt can make all the difference.

I added a few mm upward motion to the nose of my seat and applied chamois cream to my tender bits and shorts and it seems to have worked. I'm not totally healed from when it first flared up so I can still feel it but 30 miles this morning has certainly made it no worse.

    Thanks for the advice peeps

Good stuff. Just build it back up slowly and keep an eye on things down there. Well, kind of!

Keep an eye on it? The only way I can see it is with photos for the phone. I've got quite an extensive library of rather suspect shots now! :?
