Silly question but its been so cold for so long I forget what I usually wear when its in the 10-14 deg C range as for this Sunday. Was thinking either thinner bib tights, or shorts with leg warmers for down below, and l/s base layer and l/s jersey on top?

Personally depending on wind I'd opt for shorts, one base layer and a jersey, as around the 10c above your soon warm up, but will probably feel a little chilly on the down hill stretches2010 GT Series 4 ultegra wheels & brakes
2008 Claud Butler hard tail not very original any more0 -
As above really as depends on the wind for me.
If its not too bad will wear shorts, knee warmers, s/s base layer, s/s jersey, arm warmers, gilet & probably over socks
If its windy then might opt for 3/4 shorts, l/s base layer, l/s jersey, gilet & oversocks
On the hear might wear a cap under the helmet as easy to take off it I get to hot & packs up pretty small, plus have a buff that packs down small & is quite good at keeping the wind out.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
I think shorts with leg warmers might be in order, without leg warmers I'll be too cold!
Looks like not too many layers but keeping arms and legs covered is the way to go. It will be windy (19mph) especially on the outward leg, but wind shouldn't be too cold.
Thanks guys.WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

I'll be wearing 3/4 bibs, s/s jersey and arm warmers.0

I'd wear:
DHB Roubaix Shorts (although probably normal shorts to be honest)
Lycra leg or knee warmers
Medium weight socks and no overshoes (or summer socks and thin oversocks if its wet)
thin merino baselayer
SS jersey with windproof front
lycra arm warmers
thin long finger gloves0 -
Bermuda shorts and sombrero
I've been wearing my bibshorts for about a month now and also got out in them in January. Nearly went out with fingerless mitts on Wednesday but the warm spell only lasted a couple of hrs where i am. Wearing a helly hansen dry base layer and long sleeve jersey also.0 -
Similar quandary for me. I am going out at 7am tomorrow when the forecast says 2 degrees but I will be out for 4-5hours and the temperature will rise to 10 degrees.
Roubaix tights or shorts and leg warmers? (I don't own any roubaix shorts, only normal shorts with roubaix leg warmers.)0 -

You are asking the internet how to get dressed?
Does your mum still tie your shoes?0 -
Goes to show how susceptible we are to a little sunshine.
Over at Majorca, it was about 17-19c and people were still in their winter gear!0 -

Yepp, roughly what he said ^^ works for me at this time of year, although it is shorts and not 3/4 (my wife wears them ).
I also take a light windproof shower jacket just in case but generally if I feel cold I just pedal harder. Off for a very wet lumpy ride tomorrow and will wear the same, although I may be thinking of Tenerife on the way round0 -

Thats my default for summer. What do you wear when it gets warm ?
I'm thinking arm and knee or leg warmers with a gilet.
The weathers been all over the place I cant remember what I wear now...0 -
Went out this morning. 7 degrees C with a slight easterly wind that wasn't cold for a change
I had bib shorts, top base layer, short sleeved jersey, leg & arm warmers and windproof gilet. It was enough to keep me nice and cosy.0 -

That's correct. In the UK, cyclists see a bit of blue sky (temperature could be <10 degrees celsius)
and they'd be wearing shorts and short sleeved top. Ahh well, they can wear whatever they want to. :roll:0 -
Tested today, +13C, quite windy, 2h hilly ride
Long bibs, ws long base + ws short sleeve jersey
Was on warm and comfy side. Still gilete and buff in the pocket______________________

gonna be 24°C here... and for the following week too! Amazing - I was riding past 2m-high snow piled up at the roadside this morning.0

If you have an iphone, take a look at the What to Wear app for cyclists. I find it very useful.0

OMG - That is a real app - just searched lol
Today in sunny Yorkshire on a pretty hilly ride i was in: Bib shorts (standard dhb Aeon ones), SS base layer & Jersey (Torm), fingerless gloves and that was that. Was just the right temp for the whole time
Had arm warmers & gillet in my pockets, but didn't need them0 -

You need to get up earlier - Crikey was being boorish on this thread way before you!Faster than a tent.......0 -
Never ceases to amaze me how childish some people are, De Sisti, you need to grow some balls.
Was a gorgeous day yesterday, did 91 miles and got the clothing spot on - shorts with leg warmers, l/s jersey with thickish l/s base layer and mesh vest underneath to help wicking. The extra layer helped keep me warm with the wind, while any sweat was evaporated. Could have got away without one of the layers I reckon but better to be a little on the warm side than too cold IMHO.
Hope the rest of you who went out yesterday also has a good day (and got your clothing choice right!)WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels
