HONC Hybrid or Full Knobbly?

Anyone doing (or done) the HONC on Sunday?
Am unsure about tyre choice. I put some hybrids (1.95 Panaracer Mach SS) on but as it is now meant to be wet, am wondering if I should put the Nobby Nics back on?
I hate riding on tarmac with knobbly tyres but obviously slipping up muddy banks ain't much fun either.
I would have probably done it on a CX bike if I had one, so figured a hard tail with hybrid tyres would be fine.
Am I right in thinking it is mostly tarmac and trails? Whats the toughest sections like?
Thanks for any help

Hybrid. With knobblys you'll lose so much energy on the sections where you don't need them that it won't be worth the small reduction in energy needed to get up the muddy climbs. Personally, if i was in it to get a good result, i'd just dismount and run up any muddy bits because there's no prize for honesty and often pedalling up those things is slower than running!0

Thanks for that
Exactly what I wanted to hear
Have not been on the MTB much recently until prepping for this so a little bit out of practice.
Have enjoyed being back on it though.0
