Another age old question, I'm looking for a new bike up to £1500. Currently ride a HT halfrauds special GT Aggressor xc2 cost around £400 (great looking retro frame) had it around 5 years now with upgraded shimano m596 brakes, RS Recon silver tk folks, Deore crank set etc. Ride trail centres (Kirroughtree etc) and epic 1-2 day long rides over a mix terrain. Beginning to feel the soreness of long rides now (getting old 44). Planning more epics like 2x C2C (Cumbria and Scotland) all day riding. Also Ive been asked by a friend if I could guide a couple of tours for him ( he runs a mtb holiday company, doing another couple of C2C's and a lakes week) Now would you spend £1500 on a FS so the bones get a bit of a rest or just stay with a good HT??
Any recomendations

This months WMB has it's trail bike of the year, although the price range is a bit higher and you sound like you want more an XC bike?
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
