Nice! A nice bike - and good value.

I can sympathise with anyone who cant be arsed with white tape - but the white saddle and black tape makes me feel that one of them should change?

Hoping to get a carbon bar to reduce the buzz in my hands suspect this will be black ain't been able to find any white ones so will change the tape to white then but agree can't stand to see it off white when its on.

I really like the lines of the gran fondo looks like youve got a nice bike there! make sure you do plenty of research on carbon bars, I think some cheap ones have snapped which I think would be at the least a little annoyying whilst descending!

if you go white bar tape why not go white hoods as well!

I asked about carbon bars when I was building my Gran Fondo (nice choice, btw ;)) - responses were mixed at best as to whether they improved comfort or not - viewtopic.php?f=40042&t=12897682

If I were you, I would try some gel pads beneath your bar tape first. Should set you back all of a tenner on ebay. The RHM02's are supposed to be pretty decent bars (I would have gone for them myself if I hadn't had a good offer on some 3T bars), so you would be spending quite a lot to get anything better that *might* be more comfortable.

Saw these in the flesh so to speak the other day and for £75 they look a bargain. It says ergo but I'd say they're a compact ergo shape in fact more compact than ergo.

Agree with the tape issue, white can be a pain unless you get a cleanable one but with this set up its a must.
Not a Ribble design fan but always thought this looked nice particularly compared to the Sportive in black and red that most went for.

Great comments so far thanks, So the majority are thinking white tape would the deda one suit ok ?? Then been looking at fitting these too......

What do you think, would be cheaper than carbon bar and looking through what James's thread came up that carbon bars aren't probably going to help or be any lighter then might just stick with these bars.

That's the stuff, but there are cheaper versions available. Alternatively, since you are re-taping your bars anyhow you could simply double tape them, depending on how chunky you like your bars to be.

Try the new 3mm Fizik tape. Really cushy and easy to install.

Like the Syntace seatpost - they make quality stuff.
  • How do you find the frame for flexing? There was one at the local bike shop the guy had dropped off he was really unhappy with it when putting the hammer down. He mentioned it may be from the BB area and the particular wheel set he had chosen was flexing aswell!

I aint no professional and aint the lightest rider at 82kg but find that it doesn't flex or at least not enough for me to notice when I am putting the hammer down. This is the newer frame as it much more beefed up around the BB area from my pre2012 frame. Belived that this frame has more carbon in it so is stiffer than Ribbles sportive ones.

Yeah it is really nice stuff got this imported from Germany off ebay obviously been for a cube bike as there is a small logo at the top of the black stripe. Wanted a carbon white post and this gets top reviews and knew it would stand up to abuse as are also used for MTB's too.

Bender - Thanks for the heads up on that will look into that tape will probably have a go at changing it myself then when its getting tatty can just keep changing it. Plus want to change the Cables to better Jagwire ones as there only the cheapest ones fitted at the moment.

This was my older frame which had a UD carbon finish hard to see around the BB area but is thicker on the new one.
