Surely not?

was waling around plymouth today when i wandered into a new bike shop that was setting up and opens friday.
http://rocketsandrascals.com website still being set up.
it is a half bike shop and half cafe, It is a fairly high end shop that stocked some very respected brands.
As i walked in on the left hand side was this.
Taken on iPhone 5 (poor quality)
The tag clipped to it read:
Bradley Wiggins 2013 Tour de france bike.
£P.O.A
Dura-ace electronic shifting
full carbon frame
sideburns not included!
After asking a help full staff member he's said that it was not for sale as it had been lent to them by Jaguar for their opening launch but if it was for sale it would be £8,000-£10,000.
we then talked about the bike its self and the man in the shop claims that this very bike sitting in front of me will be ridden by Wigging in this years TDF, with no modifications to how it was sitting in the shop!!
at the time i was in amazement however when leaving and thinking about it i started to question it, their were certain things that made it believable because it had a SRM power meter fitted etc
However the bike was a 10speed model and surely sky will be using 11 speed bikes? and does Bradley ride a fizik Alante?
I just find it difficult to believe because the team will take in excess of 30 bike to the tour and this bike would have to go from Plymouth all of the way back to the service course in Belgium i believe!!
The shop also had a track sprint bike used by a rider at the 2008 Olympic games but i cant remember who it was

A cafe bike shop owner worker seems to know all skys secrets then as he knows this far in advance that not a single component on the bike will be changed. He must be good because I am sure SKY don't even know that much yet.0

Surely not, no.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

I can't see any SRM in that pic. Sounds like the shop guy is probably not in full posession of the facts.0

Erm... Am I being thick but the website doesn't actually say where the shop is! Perhaps you could enlighten me and perhaps I will go down and have a look... Perhaps they might let me take it for a spin, I'm sure brad wouldn't mind0

SRM is crank-mounted and that bike has a std DA crank. Who told you it had an SRM fitted, because it clearly doesn't.0 -
The guy said that it had german power meter fitted into the cranks! and i believe SRM are german?0

SRM is German, but if you can find an SRM on those cranks, I will give you a fiver. Not sure if you know what an SRM looks like, so google SRM and you will see what I mean.0 -
That's almost certainly not going to be his actual bike. First of all, he's likely to be using Dura Ace 9070, he normally rides an Arione, and that's a Dogma 2, where Sky now use Dogma 65.1 Think 2s.
However most people walking round the shop wouldn't have a clue what Wiggins' bike is like/will be like so the bike shop owner can just say what he wants!
Road - Dolan Preffisio
MTB - On-One Inbred
I have no idea what's going on here.0 -

I now have an evening of research0 -

This is what i thought most people wont know, however if it is a high end bike shop surely its "customer base" are the sort of people that would know?0 -

That's not how it works. This thread is evidence of that.0 -

That's not how it works...
For example if you walked in and were big into cycling and you wanted to purchase a Bianchi or something and the man started telling you about it surely you would notice?0 -

IIRC wiggo has a custom seat/seat post which are a one-off single piece job0

Wiggins uses osymetric chainrings, they look like standard DA ones to me...0

Not every ride he doesn't.
I do have to agree that that is not Brads bike. I could understand a shop having an old 'used by' bike, yes. But to say this is THE machine that's gonna be used by......twaddle.
Why would they have it? It will be sat in some secure storage for TeamSky without joe public being able to tamper with it. Personally I'd go back at some point, make a reason like you need a tube or some hot air to go into said tube and give that guy a questioning. Yes it's sad but let him know that you know he's either been lied to is lying himself. Not a great start for a new business.0
