Hi Guys!
During frame search for my build I got a good offer from my LBS on Pinarello Paris frame in my size 59,5.

Have not heard much on fake Paris frames, but still with all this Chinarello stuff around, would be good to check.

Here are few pics. If someone who is familiar with Pina products could comment how fake or authentic this smells and why, I would appreciate it a lot :)!

Why would your LBS risk selling fake stuff? Unless you live down the road from this...

What could ever go wrong with the FRIENDLY BICYCLE SHOP :))))?

I am spending part of my time in Eastern Europe and this offer is coming from there. The shop is in business for years, but ... its Eastern Europe and could be quite wild.
Owner himself is riding fake Dogma but being open, that its fake. But as well there are many Pinas and Bianchies in his shop which looks the real deal, its not rathole at all. So ... there is some part of FRIENDLY BICYCLE SHOP in this case.

As far as I have read about Pinas - there are few features where experienced guys can quiclky spot fake/real. BB, front of the frame, etc ..?

I seem to remember in the big chinese frame thread last year that the fakes had no braze-on (rivet on on the case of CF though!) for the front mech so you had to use a band-on mech or an adapter. Your frame appears to be for a braze-on mech. The chinese copy shops may have picked up on this though.

The best advice is above...send your photos to Pinarello!

Best advice is to ditch the heavy pinarello! and get a Cervelo r5ca which is just over half the weight!

Sent pictures and frame number to Pinarello and few big dealers as well, lets see if I ever get an answer :)?
If not I will skip this deal even frame looks amazing, finish is perfect and it looks to be original.

What goes for weight it is in line what Pinarello states for this frame.
I do not see this as an overkill in any way. Remember this frame is 59,5cm and not a small-unpainted size you usually see in manufacturers website. As well this one has already steering bearings installed.
Take any of those sub kilo declared frames in same budget than Paris. Get an L size, install bearings and you will see result.
Lets compare apples to apples not fishes.

Yes Pinas are generally few grams heavier than average competition in same group but then they also deliver in both - comfort and stiffness. R5 is completelly another price group and not comparable to Paris.

I'm not a pro racer in front of the pack in Alps and 200gr more in non rotational frame mass is not a dealmaker-braker for me.
Good wheels and chainset are more important than those non rotational grams. Im ready to pay for comfort if that costs as equivalent of glass of water I drink before the ride.

I bought an FP Quattro frame and contacted Pinarello in the UK about fakes and he replied that 'most' fakes that they knowe about have English thread BB whereas all genuine Pinarello's have Italian thread. I am sure there are fakes with Italian thread but if yours has an English thread then you know it's a fake.
