Hi,

I want to know if I could buy some 10 speed record shifters to give ultra-shift functions on a 2013 centaur group? Would I need different mechs as well or just the shifters?

Thanks in advance!

Officially, you'd need pre 2011 Centaur/Veloce mechs (ultrashift) but anecdotally, it'll work.

You could always look for 2009/10 ultrashift Veloce or Centaur levers:

Always thought changes like this were ok if you were making the upgrade with a product by the same manufacturer, so campag to campag should theoretically be fine. Not an expert though.

When the new shape levers came out in 2009, they were all ultrashift (multiple changes in both directions). The design on the mechs didn't change etc.

In 2011, they changed the Veloce and Centaur 10 speed mechs to use the same shape parallelogram as the 11 speed mechs - this requires the smallest of cable pull changes from the old shape. And it was at this point they introduced Powershift levers for Veloce, Centaur and Athena (which was the same as the old budget escape mechanisms where you could only have one click on the thumb button).

Offically, campag say that 10 speed Powershift levers has a slightly different cable pull than the 10 speed Ultrashift levers. But with anyone who has mixed and matched, I've only ever read that it works and never that there is an issue.
  • Thanks for that g00se, thought that would be the case, but didn't want to spend the money without confirming it.

No problems regardless of what the tech docs say
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
