Rear Mech Disaster

I was out with my kids earlier today going very slowly, suddenly heard a clunking sound and the pedals seized bringing me to a sudden stop. I just about managed to get out of the pedals before a crash and looked back and saw the rear mech near enough lying on the floor

I am not very good at bike maintenance, however was wondering if this is something I can fix myself? I assume the whole lot will need replaced? I initially thought the frame was badly damaged as well, but I think only a small piece of paint came off.
The chain will also need replacing.
Any thoughts on the cost of getting a lbs to fix this or for me to do it myself?
Thanks.

Mech hangers are very easy to replace and cheap to source. Chain and mech look okay from the video although could do with a clean.

That sounds great, I thought it was going to be an expensive fix. I am a bit clueless about this, is there a certain type of mech hanger to buy?
The chain is completely goosed I am afraid:

There seems to be a bit of corrosion on the rear hanger, is that the right terminology? The bike is 2 years old and was used heavily in the winter in the first year for commuting to work. Hardly been on it in the last year though.0 -
What bike do you have? Different hangers for different frame brands.
New rear mech might set you back 30 quid tops, although a bit of salt corrosion might not be so much of an issue, try cleaning it and see how it comes out.Cannondale SS Evo Team

It is a Focus Mares Comp 2010-2011.. its a Tri-Cross.
It could do with a good clean thats for sure :P0 -
Might be worth emailing wiggle to see if they have any for your specific bike or if they can order one in. If not then email focus directly and they should be able to tell you which hanger it is and may be able to send you one out directly.

Thanks for your help.
It appears that wiggle don't stock them for my bike - seems pretty typical.
I might just take the bike to a lbs for a quote and take it from there, not being very technically minded it might save me some money as I will probably break the new parts!0 -
Removed the snapped piece of metal from the bike and I think I have found the right rear mech hanger from ebay, waiting for an email to confirm *fingers crossed*
I have untangled the chain and it definitely needs replacing. Any suggestions for a chain for 9 speed Tiagra?
I am hoping the rear de-railer, doesn't need replaced however it might be slightly bent, hard to tell. It is badly corroded as well, but I doubt that really makes a difference other than the cosmetic appearance?0 -
Is this chain OK?

Apologies for all the questions, bike repairs / maintenance isn't one of my strongest points0 -
that chain would be fine
try it with your rear mech, you'll soon know if the mech is bent if the gears won't index properly0 -
You might also need a new cassette if replacing the chain depending on how worn the current cassette is. I would advise taking it to your lbs with the bits you've purchased.0
