spectacle wearers and goggles

I encountered this rather annoying problem on Sunday on my local trails, i found a nice fast downhill bit so went straight down it as you do. bout a quarter way down the wind was whipping round my specs filing my eyes with tears meaning I had to do a rather urgent ungraceful stop making sure my riding buddy didnt pile into the back of me.
Now obviously I dont fancy having this problem every time i ride. I have some issues with my eyesight meaning I get irritated by contacts very easily an a couple of years back i bought some OTG ski goggles for a hiking trip in Iceland.
Question is can I wear them with my helmet? I know theyll go round it i can just adjust the straps but I'm not wearing a full face lid.
I wear a THE F-14 which is a semi skate style lid with what appears to be a recess for the strapping as in it lines up perfectly when offered up.
Are there any issues wearing them or should i look to getting cycling glasses?

If it works then go for as it will probably save you a few quid - cycling glasses are mega bucks. Only issue you might get is venting/misting issues.

I have the same problem- I like wearing glasses and cannot justify the time and expense of contacts just for cycling.

Might try some goggles!

I use some wraparound prescription safety glasses i got from Safetyspecs
Work perfectly for me as i don't like contacts and hate wearing goggles over glasses.

Wish I'd known about that before buying mine. Spend a load on some Adidas ones with RX inserts for riding and while they do the job, they're an expense I could do without (especially since I wrote off a pair last year in the Alps and had to replace them)

I've been using them for a few years now for my safety specs at work and decided to get some bolle wraparounds for on the bike. The service has always been top notch for me and usually have the glasses within 5 days of ordering i also know my Pupillary distance (pd) which is a bonus but they can send you out a proper ruler and instructions etc if you don't know your pd.

I may look into some from there Zanush, mean time ive been out with the goggles on. Works quite well didnt have any fogging up issues so ill give it a whirl on the trails at the weekend. The ones i have are Bloc Spirits which have an orange lens. I loose a bit of color recognition but it didnt cause any problems whilei was out in the fading light.

I sent a pair of cycling sunglasses to this company http://www.ineedspex.co.uk and they fitted prescription lenses to the frames to my spec, wasn't really expensive and meant I had no need for inserts or risks wrecking my decent glasses.

Have you seen a contact lense specialist recently. There are new types and brands on the market and they are getting better all the time. I use Johnson and Johnson daily acuvue moist and they are brilliant even for someone like me who has dry eyes and astigmatism. I spent years mucking about with every combination of prescription goggles and glasses, none of them worked properly. Tried contacts about 20 years ago and was put off them big time but I was persuaded to try again by my optician and boy am I glad I did.

I can SEE and dont feel like taking my heavy, awkward and stupid speccy 4 eyes glasses off and stamping on them. Just wear nice light and comfy sunnies to keep the bugs and mud out.

I can't wear my glasses under my goggles, even though they're small frame- they don't sit right and move around too much. Maybe different combos might work.

But contacts do work for most people these days and are a far better option... I hated them first time I tried them, and found them very irritating at first but I'm glad I stuck with it.

It still isn't mega cheap but it's an option I'm more than happy with my wraparounds which are a prescription lense rather than an insert. Always envious of the peeps that have good eyesight and don't need glasses/contacts.

For me goggles and glasses are just too cumbersome, tried it a few times but i don't like the fact that if your glasses move under your goggles its a lot of messing to sort it, and with adding misting just not worth it. I got some prescription oakleys off a cheap glasses website and wear them for riding, if you look after them they'll last for ages and considering what you'll spend on other bike parts are definitely worth it.

I think its one of those things different people different frames etc. For me they fit perfectly so far with no fogging issues. They were OK in Iceland so im hoping they will be fine here.

Contacts for riding FTW. They're not even that expensive tbh. I still have to wear normal riding glasses over the top to prevent streaming eyes and reduce the chances of getting crap in my eyes. However this enables me to get free safety glasses from my mates work to ride in = winner!!!

I have some Oakley OTG goggles, which I mostly use with my full face, but I do sometimes use them for riding XC if I'm riding a particularly fast/open descent. It does work
