Bike advice

Hi,
Looking to get a bike for some off road riding and maybe some trails.
Really stuck between two bikes.
Genesis core 100
http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/bikes/mou ... e/core-100
GT Karakoram 4

Was wanting to use a local shop rather than a big chain and they stock GT, Genesis, Orange and ridgeback.
Any advice you could give would be perfect so I can get out and use it.
Cheers sean

No price on one, and no fork specs on the other, but I'm sure you can do better ate £500.
See the sticky at the top of the forum.
Big chains, but better bikes for the money.I don't do smileys.

GT is 499
And the genesis is 569
I will have a look at the decathlon bikes but really have no idea of what is good or bad0 -
Read the sticky.
And avoid the GT - mechanical lock out is just nasty.I don't do smileys.

Mechanical lockout means no hydraulic damping, you wouldn't drive a car with the shock absorbers (dampers removed)!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
