I'm doing the 100 mile ride london and want to arrange traveling down fron Norfolk. My first thought was to go by train and stay in a hotel near the start but soon found out every where decent is booked. Next idea was to drive to Epping and travel by tube to Stratford. I now think I might get the train to Kings Cross stay in a hotel there and be handy for the start and not to far from the finish. Are we going to be able to go on the tube with bikes at the finish? I'd like some thoughts on what would be my best option

tubes and bikes! even on sundays the tube can get pretty packed, i doubt they'll let bikes on

someone else asked about hotels in feb, this thread might be useful to you...

doesn't it finish on the mall? it's not far to ride from there to the kings cross area, going north from the mall you won't be crossing the route and the roads will probably be fairly quiet
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny
  • No bikes (except folders) on the low level tubes.
How about staying in Romford. Fast trains to Stratford, probably get a cheap hotel as there is a Premier Inn and Travel Lodge there. or Newbury Park/Gants Hill. You won't be able to get the underground in from there, but Ilford isn't far (and you will have a bike).
What will you do with the bike while you are asleep ? Does it fit in your car ?

Don't forget you'll need to go Friday or Saturday to sign on/pick up number plates etc. So staying over close-ish is probably wise considering the early start.
