Just bought a titus ftm carbon and i love it but i am thinking about dropping some weight on it.
The current seat post is a 30.9 gusset and handle bars are easton ea70 hi riser and a hope 90mm 10 degree
1 Would i notice any difference in performance
2 Would i notice weight difference
3 Would the up grades be worth the extra out lay
Any help would be appreciated

You need to remember that as well as saving weight (in most cases), carbon will add a lot of stiffness compared to aluminium which flexes. I've never personally used carbon bars but i have heard they can be quite harsh on the hands/arms after longs rides dues to the extra stiffness. And I would assume making the whole cockpit carbon could be even more harsh. So i would say on long rides you would notice a difference.
In terms of whether it would be worth it, it depends on how much you are paying. Personally I would not spend an extra £50 for example, just to save 100g but that's just me.
I'm certainly not trying to sway you out of the decision, just making sure you are aware0 -
Good quality carbon bars can be less harsh than aluminium. It depends on the quality.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

This is true. There are many grades of carbon available nowadays, some are cheap, almost 'knock off' carbon and others are the real deal. The price is almost always determined by the grade.0 -
Thanks oxocube1 i do a lot of long distance xc rides around 50 to 65 miles + the local trails ie hamsterly forest/Chopwell woods. like i said am just considering it and would appreciate the advise.
When out on sunday i did notice some flex but put it down to new bike getting to know it.
Can any 1 advice on what make of seat post or handle bars to use (and keep away from )0 -
I have fitted carbon seatposts and bars to both my bikes, didn't noticed any difference with the seatpost but then I only did it to save weight overall on the bike. I have Easton EC70 bars and they feel much better than the ally ones, you do feel some flex in them and they are comfortable on long rides, in no way are they harsh they make the ride smoother in my opinion.0

I upgraded to a easton havoc cabon bar a few months back (760mm) - great for my 6'3" lanky frame - much more comfortable - I like the shape of easton bars too. Very light for such tough bars - i havent noticed any extra harshness in my ride/arms. I went for a 50mm hope stem as well (alloy of course, but the small size took a good few grams off my old stem) - the bike's handing has improved alot.
I run a dropper post and my input to carbon seat posts would be un-useful!!
Easton & Enve make some of the best carbon stuff IMO. Thompson are always quality as well.Lapierre Spicy 516 XTR custom (2013) -http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=129323320 -
The price or perceived quality of a product is no indicator of how much 'flex' there is.0
