What do you guys think about this bike for mainly trail riding?
I know it isn't in stock yet, Or would you recommend a different hardtail for a budget of £1000

For very aggressive trail riding, maybe. It has a lot of travel and isn't all that light for general trails.

Yeah i was thinking that about it not being the lightest of bikes.

    I have a Ramones 1 from 2011 viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=12774510&hilit=ramones
Edit: the spec in 2011 was quite a bit different from the 2013 bike - it's a different bike tbh :)

Tough as it is I still managed to crack the frame last year but Commencal replaced it very quickly with the minimum amount of hassle. The new frame is quite a bit different in key areas.

As has been suggested it's not the lightest trail bike but most importantly for me it doesn't need rebuilding at the end of every ride. Mine has a U-turn fork which is invaluable on the climbs and a 22T chainring with an 11-34 cassette which also helps. For all-day rides around fields and bridleways you're probably better off looking elsewhere but for ragging around trail centres I think it's ace.

For general trail riding the Boardman Pro may be a better bet? Lighter, but still has 120mm travel fork (Reba) and excellent all round spec.

The Boardman would be my choice for more XC oriented stuff. the Ramones for looning about!
