Bl***y Dogs

I was cycling to work on Thursday morning and saw a dog running along the opposite side of the road then suddenly another dog ran out in front of me from the opposite side, presumably to join its mate. I didn't have time to react and collided with the dog, went over my bars and landed flat on my back. At first I thought I was winded so after a couple of mins tried to get to my feet only to feel a grinding in my ribs and an inability to breath. I was taken to hospital and am now sitting in my hospital bed with two broken ribs and a collapsed lung which is slowly re-inflating and a torn muscle in my pelvic area.

There were a lot of very helpful people at the scene who stayed with me and a very kind 80yr old woman pushed my bike back to her house and rang me yesterday to say she has posted her address and tel no through my door. She had also rang her son and got him to bring me a blanket whilst I shivered on the Tarmac. It restored my faith in human kindness and she will be receiving a nice present when I get out of hospital.

Unfortunately, I was due to fly out to Mallorca in 4 weeks but have been told I can't fly for at least 6 so that is out the window. Easyjet will transfer my ticket and the accommodation costs will be refunded but I am disappointed as I had been really looking forward to it having worked right the way through Xmas to pay for it.

Never mind, it could have been a lot worse and at least my bike and dog escaped unscathed.

Gutted for you, but at least your able to see the positive that it could have been a lot worse.

Nice also to hear a positive story about the old lady taking the time to help you. Have never been in that position but only hope that if I am people stop to help me out.

Take it easy & heal up well.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

not the dogs, fault, it's the ruddy owners fault for not looking after it.

hope you get better soon, maybe reschedule that trip to Mallorca for later in the year.

Indeed it could have been a lot worse - and not one of those things you tend to look out for - heres to a speedy recovery for you and to help you on your way - some unadulterated sex on legs

To make you feel a bit better, my dad had an epic off a Ladder 3 weeks before a family skiing holiday a few years back. The same things happened with the money and he spent it on a safari a few months later as it was something he could do without moving much and also something that he'd never done. He says it was one of the best trips he's ever done!
