Homophobic comments and swearing

Why is that homophobic comments and swearing go totally unchecked on this forum? Surely this is against the terms of use?

For example: "It's free of faffing around like a gaylord and it's fuckin ace"

Before you say 'hit the button to report the post', I did report this post and nothing was done about it: "If I try to ride faster I will quickly fucḳ myself up"

Okay so what is the issue

Do you find all swear words insultive, as for example you a very good christian?

You find the gay bit offensive, have you taken that lifestyle choice or have a close relative / mate in that circle?

You think that forums should be squeaky clean, and should not have any naughtiness within it?

You have issue with the author of the post or their style of writing?

as a note he does not call anyone a gaylord as a label, and the odd effing and jeffing is no real crime, and the thread is as boring as sin........

Personally I would suggest a little bit of give and take

I'm not christian but often find the swearing a bit too much & I'm not gay (nor to my knowledge are any of my family) but I do find homophobic comments insulting and as such these types of insults should not have a place in this forum.

I don't however think I will be taking your advice of accepting it and then responding in kind, but each to their own
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.
  • English is a rich and colourful language, there are many words and phrases that could be used without resorting to 'effing and jeffing' or using derogatory terms. Don't get me wrong, I'm not Snow White but I really can't see why people need to resort to swearing when discussing cycle training.

If you want to use that sort of language down the pub with your mates then that's your business. However, this forum open to people of all ages, genders, sexual preferences etc and I don't think it's much to ask for people to respect that. Maybe you're happy for your children to read foul and derogatory language but I'm not.

I think its kids that most use effing and jeffing, and the infamous "gaylord" on forums

I don't know what sort of language my 10 year old nephew uses on the playground but the parents don't see it (but I remember what kind of language I and my brother were using by that age, and gaylord was king insult as most kids by 10 will have all these word in their possession and will be using them regularly) - as a note if they don't they could be in for some social shock in the teenage years...... (sheltered)

Also if a kid is old enough to be online without parental guidance, the parents have already decided that they can look at whatever they want or are so inefficient at the job of raising the child they have no hope already and it makes no odds

I have also had a row on here for self depreciation (insultive rules only affect third parties), and how would these rules work if you were recounting say racist behaviour of the 70's or something like that..... my advice is - don't spend your days focusing on the crass behaviour of some online......

and finally as long as you are not breaking someone else's privacy, and its not connected to the third person you could call yourself every thing under the sun and still be within the rules.

and as a legal note - Without prejudice - Estampida....
