Hi,
Was trying to reset my front derailer and managed to damage a couple of front teath on the upper chainring - stupid I know. Took about half off just 2 of the teath. Now the chainring is otherwise in very good nick as is the chain but I am wondering will riding with this damaged chain ring cause additional damage to the chain? ie should I replace it or should it be okay?

Are you sure - rings have some random shaped teeth to aid shifting.

mmmm, just had another look... maybe ur right... It's just there was 2 that looked about half the hight right under the derailer where I was working, so I though I had pushed the derailer against it and damaged it - but I guess that would be unlikely?
With the teeth so uneven, how do you know when they are actually damaged? Thansk cooldad.

Either bent sideways or snapped - then the edges will likely be rough. But they they don't break easily.
