Hi all.

I've recently bought myself one of thode bikes with a spring at both ends. This leaves my old hartail looking a little unhappy and under-used. I've been thinking of giving it a bit of a spruce by converting it to singlespeed.

So far, I'm thinking of going with the DMR singlespeed tensioner kit -

and to liven up the front end a bit I thought i'd give the whole super wide thin a go with some 780mm answer protaper bars.

Can anyone suggest any problems with going single speed with the old double chainset (one ring removed and a bash) and also, any suggestions on a good solid short stem to hold it all together with my old psylo forks?

I posted a pic of the bike in question on this thread a while back -

Thanks,

You will need a chain guide or possibly a chain device. A proper single ring would be nice but not essential.
Have a look at Superstar Components for a stem.

No need for a chainguide on a single speed, conversion kit on the freehub and a tensioner at the rear, single specific ring (and shorter bolts) in place of the triple rings up front.

    SS for a stem....
