Seized barrel adjuster on rear mech
Any thoughts on how to unseize? At the moment I can't turn it by hand, only with pliers. I've tried a dab of WD40 in there, but no luck.
I have a feeling this was due to neglect over the winter. Hoping the answer isn't a new mech.
Its a Shimano Ultegra 6500 if that makes a difference.
Thanks

Remove cable, remove adjuster completely. Grease or otherwise lubricate thread.
Screw all the way in and out until it becomes looser. Replace cable, re-index gears. Ten minutes tops.0 -
if you can turn it with pliers, take it out, clean off the corrosion (acf-50 or leave it in some coke for a while), refit
if it's too far gone you should be able to get a sparemy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Also it could be cross threaded. Worst case would be re-tap and re-install.Yellow is the new Black.0
