Hi all, just wanted people's opinions, I'm tryin to run shalwalbe marathon 1.5" wide tyres on a spare set of 26" wheels I have so I can swop then out for road and offload use. Question is the rim is a mavic 325 and the rim width recommendations say 2.1 -3. I have mounted my 1.5" tyres to the rim and they hold so far, however it does look a bit odd, my question is would it be safe to ride or is there a chance of the tyre comin off the rim?

Thanks

Rim is 31mm wide so provided tyre is wider than rim you'll have no problems

  • Hi

I have a similar question. Just fitted a set of Conti Mountain Kings 2.4 tyres to a set of Mavic rims that say the max tyre width is 2.3 They haven't come off the rim during a gentle 36 mile cross country route, but I am concerned if I took them to say Cannock Chase they could pop off.

Does anyone or has anyone got away with running 2.4's on 2.3 max rims :?: :?: :?: :?:

Am I doomed with the idea and likely to get into trouble
