I am looking at upgrading the tyres of my trance x 2013, does anyone know if hand dumf 29x2.35 will fit the read end without damaging/scraping the paint of the frame due to flexing of the wheelset?
What good tyres do you recommend for eduro trails?

They won't fit. The biggest you can get in the rear of a Trance is 2.25".
Personally I didn't like Hans Damps, they are too big and really drag. They are bigger than my 2.5" Maxxis Minion downhill tyres.
I prefered Bontrager XR4's. Similar to the Hans Dampf but the 2.2" width is a much more useful size.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Don't know about the HD, but I've got a 2.35 high roller on the back of mine that fits with loads of room to spare.0

High Rollers are quite narrow though. I have a pair of 2.35" dual ply High Rollers I use for downhill (very fast rolling!) and they are narrower than my 2.25" Nobby NicsTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

True, they are exactly the two types I alternate between.0 -
I've got 2.35" Nobby Nics on my 2012 Trance X2 and they seem to fit just fine. That a 26" bike though. Not sure if the OP is talking about the 26" or the 29er Trance.0

That must have bugger all mud clearance at the back.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Its for my 29er Trance X, I managed to fit the Maxxis Ardent 29x2.4 in the rear and front.
Comparing the Nobby Nic 29x2.25 and Maxxis Ardent 29x2.4 both has the same size even though the Nobby Nic is only 29x2.25.0 -
I've not noticed it being a problem, but I guess it's more rocks, peat bog and snow up here than proper mud.
Not really relevant to the OP though if he's talking about the 29er.0 -
I wouldn't get away with that little mud clearance with the sticky mud we get in Somerset & WiltshireTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Fair enough. I guess I should count myself lucky On the downside most of my favourite trails still have too much snow on them to ride0

I may be wrong but I think schwalbe have just started doing the Hans Dampfs for 650b and 29ers in a 2.25 width. I love mine 2.35's already, trail star front, pace star rear, the roll surprisingly well, no slower than nics IMO and the grip is unreal. Had a massively muddy ride at the weekend and they walk all over the nics, much better traction on climbs and grippier in the corners too, very good tyres.0

Schwalbe are still only listing 29x2.35 on the websites. How would I write my own epitaph? With a crayon - I'm not allowed anything I can sharpen to a sustainable point.

is that 29x2.4?
Do you run your 29x2.4 as tubeless?
According to Giant Australia, they don't advise to use tyre bigger than 29x2.25 on Trance X 2013, because the rim will flex too much and there is not enough room on the rear.
There is not much mud here in Western Australia, is dry, mainly sand, rocks and logs. Except during rainy season we have muds.0
