I had the nightmare of nightmares recently when I fitted my CAAD8 with SPD-SL pedals and purchased DHB R1.0 road shoes and SH11 road cleats. I couldnt use those bits of gear in a fit  I couldnt get into the pedals, couldnt get out of them and god forbid if I had to get going again whilst on a hill, my confidence in using them was shot to bits on ride 1 as it was an absolute disaster :o Ive always used SPD shoes and pedals and I just couldnt wait to get back to them. The SPD shoes I purchased were the DHB M1.0 type from wiggle in size 45 as the R1.0 shoes in that size were an absolutely perfect size for me. I opted for the black shoes as white ones just get filthy looking and the build and fit of the M1.0`s were spot on. The soles on those shoes made the soles on the old spd shoes id been using seem like flex city. I was pleasantly surprised at how much stiffer the M1.0`s were and when I pushed hard on the pedals there was absolutely no give in the soles. The price of the M1.0`s from wiggle is a very wallet friendly £45 and I will definitely be picking up a pair of the carbon soled M2.0`s when it comes to the time to pick up new shoes.

I cant state enough how comfortable I found the M1.0`s, when trying on various shoes , especially Shimano types, I had the shop vendor telling me they were perfect when I felt as though my toes were overlapping each other as they felt so uncomfortably tight. If somebody is looking a decent pair of SPD shoes which you can walk in when off the bike, then the DHB M1.0 shoes offer terrific value for money.

I can second that - I have got them in white! Lovely pair of shoes. Echo everything Raffles has said.

How far have you ridden in them?

I've ridden nearly a thousand miles & walked probably around a mile. Showing no signs of age just yet!

  • I've recently got a pair and no complaints so far, seem like good quality for the money. I'm looking to get some overshoes as the weather doesn't seem to be improving any time soon, will I need to get mtb specific overshoes to fit them? Any recommendations?

I got some BBB heavy duty overshoes, 2 sizes bigger than i needed. No complaints do far ridden in all weathers, snow, ice, down to minus 6. Always dry, always warm.

I've got the carbon soled M2.0C but paid less than the £81 currently shown after seeing something very similar in Halfords under the BHH brand with a ratchet buckle but with a normal sole.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
