Ambrosio Excellight wheels from Sport Pursuit

I bought a pair of these recently and want to warn anyone else who may have bought them to check them and keep an eye on them.
I noticed the front wheel has started rattling after just a few rides and today while on a ride I stopped to find a spoke on my rear wheel had almost complete unwound! No wonder my brakes were rubbing!
Lucky I noticed before the spoke completely came out of the nipple and that I had a spoke key with me.
Absolutely shocking given they've had about 150 miles on them. My previous Fulcrum 7s were bomb proof in comparison!

That doesn't make them bomb susceptible. Though it might mean that they have been built badly.0

So your wheel slipped through quality control. It happens. Nothing 'shocking' about it.
Maybe give the seller the chance to put it right before complaining on here about it?0 -
Crap build, best to get them checked by someone who know how to build wheels. They are potentially good wheelsleft the forum March 20230

I've just passed the 1000 mile mark on my Excellight/105 handbuilts and they're as good as the day they were built.
I agree it's bad form to post a message on a public forum before letting the retailer sort it out. . .0 -
Well my Excellights just got me a top 6 on Strava on a cobbled hill climb :-)
Thanks Paolo ;-)Yellow is the new Black.0 -
Used Ambrosio Excellence & Excellight for years and never had any problems on shytey scottish roads and even more shytey weather. There is nothing bombproof it's just your bad luck if anything goes wrong. get onto the dealer.0

Don't get me wrong, they roll well and I'm sure the actual wheels are great. They also coped well with several cattle grids after I got them back into some sort of rideable condition by the road side.
I wouldn't be so annoyed if they just needed a bit of a true after a while, but for the entire spoke to unscrew itself?
Anyhow, it's more for people who have bought them from Sport Pursuit recently to just keep an eye on them.0 -
Presumably Sport Pursuit knocked you back when you asked them to sort the wheels out?- - - - - - - - - -
On Strava.{/url}0 -
I haven't contacted them yet - that's tomorrow's job when they're open.
This isn't a thread to slag off SP - they're just selling kit from the manufacturer and I'm sure they'll sort it.
The point was that others might be built just as badly.0 -

There is clearly something wrong with Strava.
I also got the KOM on Congleton road (a 0.5m segment just after Swiss Hill) with a time of 30 seconds WTF!!!.
Even if I do really have 6th on Swiss Hill who rides up there anyway (apart from a load of Middel Aged fatties from Manchester on Mountain Bikes) :roll:Yellow is the new Black.0
