Not much help except get some flexibility into your hips and pelvis.
Bet you have tight hamstrings as well.
Apart from that it is not a God given right to be able to ride on the drops without a hitch, you have to work at it or forget it and ride on the hoods sit up and beg0 -
Seek professional adviceI'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

If raising the stem doesn't work, try lowering it. It places less pressure on your back and worked for me.
Road - Dolan Preffisio
MTB - On-One Inbred
I have no idea what's going on here.0 -

I thought your stem should be higher if your back is sore0 -
it is unusual to have a perfectly balanced body. often one leg is slightly shorter/longer than the other. repetetive stress eventually leads to a slight misalignment that is not within normal bounds. I recommend seeing chiro 2 times a year to set everything right before being antagonised by back pain.
of course i only started this preventative therapy after my first bout of back trouble, which i duly ignored for 6 months, but now, with core strength, flexibility and bi-annual care i seem ok.0 -
Try to get a bit stronger in the lower back by strength training and coretraining. Its Very important in cycling. If you cant raise your stem, i recommend you get a stem with a more positive grade. If the drop makes you too uncomfortable, you should get a bar with not that big drop.

Doing this 2-3 times a week will help you. I had the same problems as you. I did core and strength 2-3 times a week this off-season and no i can sit 4 cm lower in the front than 7 months ago.0
