I see where Nik Software is offering their complete set of software (6 packages) for $149 this weekend (through Monday, I believe) and as low as $126 if you have one of the various promotional codes that are floating around( I used hdrsoftware15 and it worked) Usually it costs $499

Nik stuff is really good - I have been using their black-and-white developing software Silver Efex Pro for several months and just love it. It is the best B&W software out there. The rest of their suite - plug-ins for HDR, colour developing, sharpening and noise reduction - are meant to be good. I know I had wanted to get the others and when I saw this deal, I bit. Like it a lot thus far. If you don't have it, the Silver Efex Pro alone would be worth the cost.

A note - the software is meant to be used as a plug in for Lightroom, Photoshop or Aperture; you need one of these to be able to use the Nik stuff; it is not a stand-alone developing package. As plug-ins, they are superb.

Nice to see that Nik has survived the Google acquisition intact, at least for now.

Not in the same league as the Nik collection, but saw a reference to this on another forum a couple of days ago - worth the free download:

OnOne Perfect Efects 4 Free (standalone or plugin):

One wonders what Google's long term intentions are for Nik if they are slashing its price by 75%.

I'd imagine to get folks to actually buy it instead of ripping it off, Photoshop next.............

I expect Google didn't buy them for the 'professional' Nik plugins - they probably wanted Snapseed and Nik's general technology for their own products, so there might not be much more development of these packages. Nik's tech (U-points, etc.) is also in Nikon Capture NX - I wonder if it will be available for any future version?

As for Photoshop, someone needs to shut down this dodgy 'warez' site before everyone steals it:

That's what I am afraid of - that it might be the end of the line for further development of Nik's wonderful plug-ins
