As per all the guides you'll find, wrap round biggest gears front and rear, missing out the derailuer, and with the suspension at the end that gives longest chain length and add 2 links to that.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Still stuck with this....... SRAM PC1031 is te chain ref but I can only find them in 114 link lengths. As you can see from pic a 114 that I have ordered is 2 links short.......

Any ideas where I can get a SRAM 10 speed 116 link chain from??

Surely there must be a replacement in 116 length?? Presumably 29ers need a longer length yet all I seem to be able to find is 114 length??

Have you actually tried fitting it per Beginners post?
I've never, ever used a full chain on any bike.

Yes...... And it indicates two links short !

It seems really odd with the number of 29ers around that this isn't common ??

I can't find SRAM 116 link chains anywhere

Can't see that 29ers are a specific problem. Road bikes have big wheels, and DH bikes have long wheelbases.

Use another quick link and knick some rollers and centre from the old chain.

So the one that came off is 116 links long, is that the right length or are you assuming it is?

  • how much stretch has the old chain got?? over the length of a chain the stretch can indicate it is 1 or more links longer!

you dont need to stick with Sram either, kmc make 10 speed chains, as do shimano, clarks etc.

It's the one fitted at the factory .... And using the big - big sprocket test + 2 links yes 116 is correct!

A 114 physically fits but dérailleur is pulled crazily forward !
