Chain came off during a climb....

Had my first fall today clipped in. My chain came off as I was fairly out of breath and got confused with the gears somehow. I got the chain back on, and managed to set back off on the climb which was tough.
Not sure if you can see this one I posted a link. It was very steep I don't know why its rated a 4 on strava, as I have done other 4's and they are babies compared to how steep and hard this one is.

Then to top it off about 30 mins later we stopped at a shop and I had lucozade on my mind... forgot about being clipped in and just toppled over.

I scraped all my leg on the crankset when the chain came off. but took the brunt of the fall on the base of my right hand when at the shop. Hope its just a bruise

Feeling good for doing that one today, I am my sights on a 3 rated climb for next weekend

Strava is wierd with climbs sometimes. There is a hill to my house that strava doesn,t even classify, yet I find it harder than most of the local 4,s.You know yourself how hard it was so don,t worry about strava being exact.
The rest of your ride looks a good experiance.Nice one.

Climb looks fine, only one small steep bit. It's a cat 4 because it's only .9 miles. If it was twice that it would be a cat 3.

It was in the centre of a small town. A nice old lady and her grandson looked on horror as my friend started laughing in hysterics. Was very embarrassing!

I have a 4 on my training route round by my house(only done it twice mind). Its much longer I guess, but I find it much easier.

I seem to give it to much to start and then get totally knackered for the last bit. I have not been cycling for long so guess it just means I am not fit yet lol.

I havent gone over on the road yet. But yesterday while in the house I was trying to get a better setup with my cleat position. Leant against a wall in the bedroom while clipped in to check setup was ok, lost balance and went straight over haha. And this is just in the house!

wow yeh very close :) was a lovley day wasn't it, I just had my shorts on with a jersey wind stopper and was fine despite it only being about 5C lol I will follow you on strava to see if you come up with some good rides.
Was your last one on there nice?

Give that climb I posted a try if your in this area, its quite a tough one. But if your just starting out like me, I would get some easier ones under your belt.

The link below should clear this up:

    https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/20420292-How-are-Strava-climbs-categorized-For-Rides-

The hill you were on works out at about 13,000, so it's just over halfway through Category 4. If it was ~250m longer at the same average gradient then it would be a 3. Good luck on the 3 next weekend!
