Time trials - rolling start or not?

Really basic question here - when you do a 10 or 25 mile time trial, is it the convention to do a rolling start, or do you set off from stand still when the clock starts?
Thanks!

From standstill, but in most events you'll get held up and a bit of a push to get you rolling0

If there is a holder then best hold the bike with a brake, that way it makes it easier for the holder to keep you steady. That way you'll get clipped in nicely and ready to go without wobbling.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

You get held upright by a starter, so you can clip in, rotate pedals to get your best foot first, etc.
The timekeeper will count you down - 30sec, 10, 5,4,3,2,1,GO!
On GO! the holder-up will usually give you a bit of a push off which is enough so you don't fall over, or in a club TT you normally get a good heave !
What you need to remember to get in the correct gear you want to start in as you roll up to the start...
This might help
