Hi All
A facebook group page has been set up for people who would like a refund from the Cheshire Cat sportive that was cancelled.
A number of people have posted on the Kilo to Go facebook page asking for refunds and either been ignored or worse had the comments deleted or in Kilo to Go's words 'Moderated'. As yet few, if any emails have been acknowledged re Refunds and no statement has been released by the company relating to the requests for refunds.
For those interested the page is called Kilo to Go- Complaints (cheshire cat)

I can't find the page. Can you post a link?0

Hi Brakeless
Yes, sorry should have put a link! Also its a group rather than a page so you click 'Join' and an admin will accept the request and you are in! It's all pretty self explanatory and won't be 'moderated'! However it would help if you/anyone who choose to join it keep things factual :-)
Link is https://www.facebook.com/groups/4327839 ... ts&fref=ts0 -

So, have the organisers taken the money and run?0

Is the silence from the organisers that makes it worse. If they offered a refund minus a (small) admin fee it would be a good gesture. People like me didn't even get the welcome pack/timing chip, so they cant have huge expenses. I haven't even received an email to offer a place on the replacement ride or the Shropshire one that some have had, just a text to say the event was cancelled.
Have had a response from wiggle via twitter that they will speak to the organisers - maybe worth approaching other sponsors too? After all, they only sponsor the events to get good publicity.0 -
A facebook outrage group, how cute0
-
De Sisti- Who knows? Have a look at their FB page maybe?
Xioxyx- If you want a refund and are interested in a group action at court if necessary, then get in touch via FB for more info.
We have also sent messages to sponsers- Wiggle (its their fault!) High5, etc...0 -
Put in request to join. Sounds good.0

Presumably they'd have paid for registration facilities and marshalling - was food reusable or with a sell by ?
I'm not sure how much of a refund you'd get.
A local half marathon got cancelled due to snow and the amount to refund was fairly small. It was a club event so I was happy to let it go to charity.0 -
Not sure. I'm just annoyed by their attitude and lack of communication. This is organised by a ltd company with big sponsors/partners to make money, plus they charged a premium. I'd have thought they would have been insured too?
Like you say, if it was a club or charity thing I'd not be fussed either.0 -

Err, I don't think the law of contract works like that. If people choose not to claim refunds that's one thing but you don't shrug your shoulders and say "Can't be helped - the butties have gone stale." You take money for a service then you must provide it or pay not just a refund but compensation for any other losses arising from your failure to do so.0 -

I was happy to accept a swap onto another event. They wouldn't do that (they have 12 this year) they did transfer me to the new date- which I can't do, or failing that put us onto another event in Sept with no details available yet for it. Oh, and they gave me 5 days to decide which of the 2 options I wanted. I asked them directly for a refund, heard nothing...0

A refund and compensation are two different things. Either the organisers should have had cancellation insurance or their T&C's should be explicit in terms of what happens if it's called off due to something like extreme weather.0 -
How about moving your entry to next years event if you cant do the 7th july. That would leave them time to sell off the available places for the 7th and make up any losses. ??? just a thought.SOLITUDE. It's not for everyone.

I imagine everyone read these Ts & Cs thoroughly before signing up? :twisted:0 -
The event was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, and you have as little control over the weather conditions as the event organizers do. When you entered you agreed to the terms and conditions, which included the following --KILO TO GO reserves the right to terminate an individual's ride on health and safety grounds. Rides will only be postponed, re-routed or stopped for reasons of safety. Entry fees are not refundable. Entrants may not transfer or defer their entry. If KILO TO GO has to cancel an event as a result of hostilities, political unrest or other circumstances amounting to force majeure, it shall inform the entrants without delay and shall provide entrants an alternative ride in an event of comparable standard, if available.
They reorganized the event for another day. And no doubt will have occurred significant additional cost in doing so. I really don't know what your complaining about.
Here's some words to live by -Say you walk down the street and step in some dog shit. Well that sucks, but the best way to deal with it is to clean the dog shit off and continue on with where you were going. If you stop and stare at your foot print in that dog shit or it on your shoe, all your gonna see is crap, and smell crap. So just leave it behind you. If you try and inspect the road and see exactly how you stepped in that shit or how you could have avoided that shit, you Basically just spent your day looking at shit and haven't moved anywhere or done anything productive all day. Life is gonna smell like shit all the time if you can't let go of the mistakes. It's nobody's fault really, sometimes you just step in shit. I mean you could blame the dog or the owner walking it, or you could blame your self. But truth is, it happened. Thinking about it, and trying to figure out what happened is a waste of time. Next time you'll smell that shit coming and walk around it. So move on with your day, Forget the shit in your past, and look how beautiful the world is as you walk through life.0 -
For anyone interested in the 'Shropshire One'.... Epic Cycles Spring Challenge:-
PLEASE NOTE: If we are unlucky and the weather is too unkind (e.g. floods, ice or thick fog) we may need to call off the ride at short notice for safety reasons - in this case all entry fees (minus HQ, food and transaction costs etc) will be donated to our nominated charity, the Perry Group Riding For The Disabled Association.0
