SRAM Power Links on Shimano

I have 2 bikes both run Shimano 105. One has a Shimano chain and the other a KMC. A guy who works at my LBS says I could use 10 speed SRAM power links on both chains (they are cheaper than Shimano ones). Has anyone else used them ok? My LBS say it is all down to marketing which makes us think you cannot use SRAM ones on Shimano and vice verca!

What are thoughts?

  • They are fine, they also say the SRAM are not reusable but they are.
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

bear in mind that if it's sram 10-speed it is a powerlock, not a powerlink

sram powerlock is single use, once fitted, you leave it, it is not the type of link designed to be opened/closed again

sram powerlink is reusable, it's for 9-speed chains

if you want reusable 10-speed links, fit kmc missing links (shimano/sram compatible)
