Hydraulic brake question

how do you check if you need to add oil or whatever? how often does it generally need doing?

You don't. They're sealed, just leave them.
If and when they go squidgy worry about it. My current set are five years old and haven't been touched.

Same. But they need servicing every so often according with the manual

They need regular servicing, how regular depends on how ofetn you ride really!

Chris suggest you start your own thread, squidgy isn't helful, you need to be more descriptive to understand the cause of your symptoms.
