Gears ticking under load only
Hello all
When i'm riding with the drive train under load it frequently sounds out of index (ticking like it wants to change gear). However, when i chuck it on the workstand to tweak the barrel adjuster it sounds ok- so i dont touch it. It's pretty frustrating.
I was wondering if this is a symptom of chain wear? I'd say the chain has done about 1.5k miles and cassette half that. I'll look into get a chain checker tool if this sounds suspect.
In addition, i'm running a 11-25 cassette but would like to swap for 11-28.... would this require a longer chain?
Thanks.

no need to get a chain checker -> just use a tape measure http://sheldonbrown.com/chains.html#wear0

rear mech may be dirty/in need of lube, need adjusting, be out of alignment etc.
if the current chain is the correct length, you need a longer one to fit an 11-28my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Try reindex your rear derailleur. Undo the bolt that clamps the derailleur cable and setup the rear derailleur as if newly installation. Your problem should go after that.Road - Cannondale CAAD 8 - 7.8kg
