Hi,
Im getting my first road bike which is a Wilier Triestina 105 soon and i was wondering if the list below would be an appropriate pedal set?

Yes they will all work together.
The R540 pedals should come with cleats though so you don't need to get a second set. Slightly cheaper from wiggle too:

Cleats Included
Float (°): 6

Yup good to start with, however if you choose to ride in all weathers then those pedals might not last too long. I've had to send a pair back to Madison after just 4 months use they started to play up. If you can stretch your budget get the Shimano 105 pedals. The cleats will come with the pedals so don't buy them separately.0

All of those will work together, and will do the job.
Appropriate? If you have no intention of doing much walking, those will be OK (and if you do, go for SPD shoes with recessed cleats, and corresponding pedals). Personally I'd spend slightly more and go for the 105s over those, and if you have any sort of knee trouble then you might want to consider Look Keos (at a similar pricepoint), which offer more float, but otherwise they will be fine.0 -
....and theyll improve your power transfer, eh simon?!!!
go with the 105 mate, if the rest of your bike is that will look neat0 -
He he, they talked you into clipless pedals then :-D0

Prepare for the falls, and make sure to set them up properly or else you could do damage to your knees.0
