Standard bar + shims = oversize?

Hi, I've just ordered a Truvativ Hussefelt stem that takes an oversize bar. The only oversize bar I've got will look horrible on my bike because it is silver. I have shims though. If I put the shims on my standard bar will it then fit in my stem? I've only used the shims for a stem that takes a standard bar. I don't have an oversize stem for me to try it out either.

So will it fit? Or will I have to make so with a dodgey colour scheme.
Thanks.

Most bar shims are to fit old 22.2mm bars into a 25.4mm clamp, in which case they won't work to fit a 25.4mm bar into a 31.8mm clamp.

Dodgy colour scheme until you have some black bars (don't spray them, it won't stick and will look even worse!

There are shims to do any combo.

I run some 22.2mm bars in a 31.8mm stem. Fine no issues.

Just make sure you get the correct shims.
