Innovative cycle rack

On a recent trip to Cape Town for the Argus Cycle Tour http://www.cycletour.co.za/,I came across this insane cycle rack! The owner drove around 1000miles with his bike mounted on that rack surviving cross winds, rain with both bikes undamaged. I highly recommend doing the Argus it's a 109km route round the cape peninsula with 35 000 other riders, departing in groups every 3mins, did it 6 times myself. Those racing aim for sub 3 hours and the fun riders anything between up to 7hrs.

Brilliant. Maybe not as much an issue as it looks, as bicycle is pretty light even compared to a motorbike? Don't get carried away and pull a wheely though.0

Brilliant. Do you mind if I share that pic on a BMW forum I also frequent?0

It's also perfect for controlling your wheelies.....0

Can't think of a better way of doing it, but there will be quite a bit of leverage on a not particularly strong part of the bike. Would certainly be safer to drop the wheels off and mount sideways.
Also its obstructing the lights and the number plate, so UK plod would pull you for that.
I imagine the owner has done it because he's fed up with being stranded every time his boxer seizes?0 -
