XTC Frames....

Hi,
I'm looking to get a new frame sometime this year. I was looking at the XTC Composite frames but it seems impossible to get the frame only. does anyone know what the standard XTC Frame is like? it's only £400 so not to pricey, I imagine it will be a lot lighter than my talon 3?
Also, I'm thinking of opting for the 29'er for XC racing, this seems to be a good choice according to much online research can anyone on here back this up?
Thanks
Craig

Mountain biking is the bicycle version or rallying, except you don't need a Co-Driver!

My girlfriend has an XTC Composite from a good few years ago, absolutely stunning frame, and very light! I swear I'm not jealous ....
Sorry though, can't help you with sourcing one, I've seen the odd frame on eBay, but I'm not sure if it's sold frame only.0 -
Eh, doesn't have to be, I was just going with what I know, what other brands would you suggest? I don't really know what ones are good and what are not so good. Quality is high on my priority list as well as weight you see :-)
Thanks

The alu XTC frame is about 1500g, probably more.0

Is the aluminium XTC frame lighter than the Talon 3 Frame?
I imagine it will be?
I know that because I'm looking to change to a 29'er that it will be heavier but would prefer to keep any weight gain to a minimum :-) ... The price of the aluminium one is not to bad I have to admit :-)Mountain biking is the bicycle version or rallying, except you don't need a Co-Driver!0 -
Yes, as the Talon is a different sort of bike.
What is it specifically you are after ie for what riding? XC race?0 -
Yes it will mostly be for XC race :-) ... The aluminium might be an option then :-)Mountain biking is the bicycle version or rallying, except you don't need a Co-Driver!0

How can the 29er be soo much lighter than the whippet?! The tubes seem to be a lot thinner mind ....0 -
Trek claim the CF Superfly 29er frame is 849g....don't say which size though, not at all to do with Specialized claiming there similar race frame is 850g of course!
Not many people make a thing about buying locally branded frames, but on-ones are great value for money generally and that is what attracts people, and the fact they have a reputation for riding well!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
I have a large 2009 XTC and a small 2012 Talon, the XTC frame is noticeably lighter than the Talon but it's a completely different type of bike and not really comparable.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
