Anyone done a HC climb? If so, how long and how much elevation was it?
I'm off to Spain on Sunday for holiday and taking the bike along as there's a HC climb I really want to give it a shot, it's 14.4miles and 4500ft elevation.... Hoping to ride it without stopping!

You should be fine if you have the right gearing and can do an hour or 2 around threshold.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

Can ride threshold for 3 hours max, ideally I wanted to ride a lot more last week but due to not feeling 100% (cold) I eased off, hopefully this week I'm going to put some good hours in on the bike, but annoyingly am still feeling a bunged today... I've got a triple chainset on the bike so should have plenty of granny gears to use0 -
Err... what you think you're riding at is not your FTP if you can sustain it for 3 hours...English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0

Yep, done that one, but i'm surprised it's HC, it's not too hard, just long. Sa Calobra is a lot harder, I think.0 -

I did this one last year.

The scenery was so beautiful that I forgot about setting a decent pace and ended up pootling along taking pictures every few minutes.0 -
Last summer I rode Alpe d'Huez and Col du Galibier.
I rode them both very slowly but made sure I didn't stop. Next time I hope to improve on my times.

I rode Ventoux twice last year 4 months apart.
First ride - when way too hard to begin with & did not enjoy the last 4KM.
Second ride - paced myself and really enjoyed it & also rode it quicker.
Also as above gearing is super important first ride 11-25 mashed the last 4KM second ride 11-28
Rode with a nice high cadence ( 90 - 100 ) ( also kept my heart rate right down )
Have fun - once you reach the top it really is true panacea.0 -

What will be your unambigous proof that you actually did the ride ?
You are a funny one. You doubt my riding, but gloss over it after I provide you with my Strava. Would you like signed affidavits from the 2 dozen club members I'll be riding with?
Here it is again. Bookmark it and check it daily if you feel the need.

Well I did the climb on Monday (very sad to be back in the cold UK) and went fine, the last mile was really hard going on the legs as the temperature dropped, the wind picked up and the road seemed to get steeper, but still was a great ride, really enjoyed it.
Managed the 14.5 mile climb in 1hr 50mins and the descent took me 31mins.... Really great climb, I highly recommend it if nearby, a single track road with very little traffic (saw about 5 cars) and goes through a national park so really nice surroundings....

Nice!
I did Big Soller last week. Really nice climb and surprisingly easy. I did it easy and never left zone 4 (climbed it at 148bpm- I climb hard at 160bpm+) as it was my 4th 100+ mile ride in a row and still had a couple days left in Majorca.

Next up on the HC front is Mt. Lemmon in June!

Impressive climbing ...As I was on holiday with family I didn't manage to get any "epic" rides in (only had a few hours here and there to squeeze in some rides) Would have loved to have spent more time in the saddle, the roads were really great to ride; I really enjoyed the smaller rides I did manage to get in...
Although I'm certainly not a "climber" rider (current post winter weight is about 95kg) ...Even so, I really enjoyed the challenge and made a nice change to the flats of CambridgeshireSloppySchleckonds wrote:Wel in Matty, how warm was it?
Was there for 10 days, the weather was sunny most of the time, with a few clouds on some days, but there was quite a bit of wind.... Air temp was consistently around 20-25degrees. All my 5 rides were more than comfortable in short sleeves and climbing with zip down so was really nice to ride in warm weather with sunshine0
