Here's the deal: I have a commuter bike, Specialized Secteur Sport Disc, which is pretty basic bike for 1000£. I just love the stealthy black looks of it and I'm in the progress of upgrading the wheels. I've always loved the looks of aero wheels or 'deep V's' and was wondering if it would be possible to build custom wheels from Halo Caliper 38 mm's and Hope Pro Evo 2 hubs? The rims would be cheap too.

the rims are available with 32h anodized black and without cnc'd sidewalls.

It is perfectly possible... you can build any rim you want on Hope PRO 2 or even Novatec 711/712. I recommend the latter, you can get them for half the price

This is a set I built recently for a user of this forum on the Novatec hubs

These have Hope PRO 2 on Mavic Open PRO Cd rims

For deep rims, look at H plus Son formation face, they are awesome and better quality than the Halo/Kinlin

The velocity Deep V is also available without machined sidewalls. The Hplus son archetype has an black anodised brake track. Another hub alternative is the A2Z hubs. They are very light and so far seem fine.

The formation face rim is very deep and heavy. The F30 rim has no brake track and would be a better bet I think but is only available in 32 and 36H drillings. Not that that is a problem.

Thanks for the advice. This opens up a whole new world. Even though I'm a fan of those deep v rims, they just come too heavy. I might have to go with Archetype, which still looks beautiful. Probaply with Tesla hubs (I'd like them to be red) to save some money.

Use these and buy them from this guy

I have bought a lot of these from him as he is the only one stocking them. Expect 3 weeks for delivery. They are the best hubs you can get for the money.
Archetype rims are one of the best solution for this type of wheels
