Hi guys, im looking for abit of help. I am currently looking to buy a Cotic Soul frame to build up as my first build. I will admit im abit of a noob when it comes to the mechanical side of mountain biking but this is something i am wanting to change and hopefully this build will help me improve my skills when it comes to playing with my bikes.

What i would like to know is, is it worth paying the extra for Cotic to put the bottom bracket and headset on the bike or am i better off buying other parts and doing it myself? The bottom bracket you can have put on the frame by Cotic is a Hope Stainless Steel one. Is this any good and worth the extra to be put on the bike at all??
For the headset you have the option to have the whole headset put on or just the lower half and you can choose from Cane Creek or Hope 1H headsets with or with out adaptor for 1 1/8", Are these worth it too or again am i better off buying other parts to put on to the frame??

The Frame and all the options can be found at the link below:

Thanks for all the help with this,
Tom

They seem like pretty good prices to me so I would get them to fit them.

Fitting both the headset and BB requires special tool to do the job properly. I you are feeling brave you can fit the headset with a block of wood and a hammer.

I am not a big fan of CC headsets so would go for the Hope.

The 1 1/8 adaptor will depend on the forks you are putting in the build.
  • you'd need to get the BB faced anyways to be sure, so by getting cotic to do it, saves you a job, also easier for them to whack in a headset too whilst its there as unless you've the headset press you'll have to lbs it anyways!! - you can make your own press, and you can do it with wood blocks and a rubber mallet etc. but its just as easy to get it done and have it arrive ready!!
    Timmo.

Working out which forks was going to be the next step as i know some will fit and some wont. Day off tomorrow soo will have to go around hunting for forks. Any reconmendations anyone??

Sounds like paying the extra to get the parts put on is the way to go, good thing i dont really have a budget for this build
