Did anyone brave it today?

Had man flu for the last two weeks so only had a couple of evening rides under my belt, this week. I was gagging to get out today even though the roads were covered in slush. Wasn't too bad though had a few hairy moments and had to go a lot slower.

Anyone else brave the slush?

No slush in Richmond Park just now, just a bit of sleet. Cold though, and the wind was fairly evil. Took it slow, it was just a short 12 miles to blow the cobwebs away and test out the new Lidl gilet.

I was tempted. It has been a nice day here. Sunshine and bright skies. But blowing gale for 10!! Last time I went out in the wind this strong I was nearly hit by a truck. I honestly think someone is waiting for me to so much as look at my bike before they turn the crap weather tap on.

Got out for a quick 30, not helped by a hangover and 15-25 mph winds. On the positive side, barely noticed the cold despite it being close to freezing. After 4 months of these temperatures, I'm finally adapting!

Dont, sleet pretty much all morning and I was hoping to join a club ride tomorrow. Most likely will be a wash out too.

Starr king on trainer road for me. Hated every minute and long for the road again! Hideous outside and my wife ended up in a ditch this morning. Then again a rear wheel drive two seater on back roads is plain stupid.

Snowing heavy when I got up.
Managed 15k around 2.30 when it had turned to light sleet
    Cold, but worth getting out

Was going to race today but it got cancelled due to bad weather (snow on the course). Got an email 3-4hours before the start, so no efforts wasted.

20 miles on the turbo, then about 2.5 miles on the road to the lbs to pick up a new chain for the mtb. It's been sitting neglected in the garage since october, but I may take it out tomorrow depending on conditions. One hairy moment when I hit a pothole covered by slush and started sliding in an unintended direction. Managed to unclip before falling into the deeper snow at the side of the road, thankfully.

Work commute. No snow but very cold easterly wind, wish it would bugger off!
Provided the expected snow "flurries" overnight are only light then the sunday ride will be on. :)

Managed 3 hours on the turbo. Better than struggling for 3 hours in the cold. For me anyway

Managed to do some hill climbing around Cheddar Gorge - 4,500 feet in 33 miles. Was bitterly cold with a biting wind, but well worth getting out!

some of you guys are really hardy. i bought my first road bike 6 weeks ago and have only been out twice, all this weather is really depressing. the bikes due its free service but doesn't seem worthwhile as its hardly been anywhere. when will it ever get any better? i am going stir crazy waiting.

Yeah the weather hasn't been ideal this month. After tomorrows ride I'll only be at 950 miles for the month... Poor effort for March.

Dont know where you are, but here it wasn't actually that bad, bitterly cold but the slush had almost gone. I'd much rather have low temps than high winds. Didnt see another soul on a bike. Get some warm gear, go out, then return home in triumph with your new rule#9 credentials.

Club rides been cancelled tomorrow, only chance now is if a couple of guys from work brave it. I have no motivation to go at it alone.

I suspect the turbo was taken over in hand lugage :)

I managed an hour yesterday evening after the snow/sleet had melted completely, very wet roads but it was lovely (only 1 deg although it felt warmer because I was well wrapped and had the hammer down). I wrote off a planned 200k ride today (couldn't face all day in the cold wind) but went to bed last night still tempted by a club ride this morning...but all that water has now had plenty of time to freeze so I have decided to eat chocolate in bed instead. Turbo punishment for me later, lardy boy :)
