Changing Components from current bike to new build

Not been on my bike for two years, Rock Lobster Tig Team SL and thinking of changing to a more long travel hardtail, is it possible to just take off my groupset and change it to new frame and fork, it's got xt groupset, I'm censored with mechanics myself but presume a shop that I buy the frame and fork fro could change over, or would I need different groupset and components for a long travel hardtail?

Some bits will fit, some might not. Most/all of the drivetrain should, except possibly the front mech. You might need a new headset. Maybe a new front wheel depending on the fork. You may also need a new seatpost and clamp, again though, it depends on what you buy.

Do you think the easier thing really is to just sell my current bike and start again?!

Depends on what will fit - look up the specs of your bike and compare to your options.
