Chap was racing in the 1930s! Amazing and inspiring.
Love the racing trike too.

    Love this quote:

"I remember back in 1976 I took a photo of him with a grey beard and a beret and I thought this may be the last shot I get of my dad."

I agree - very inspiring. Amazing that he is still able to ride any type of bike/trike at 100 years young.

Top man. An example to us all. Bit worried his son thought he was going to croak at 63.

That is even more amazing - for a 100 year old to do 62 miles in 4 hrs 17 mins, which averages 14.5mph. I'd struggle to do that.

I thought that as well. The son must be a bit worried about himself as he is now 63 - he better start cycling if he isn't doing so already :)

I was in the CTC before getting into road cycling (and still am due to their campaigning role) and it is full of geezers cycling - although the oldest I met was a mere spring chicken at 86. A lot of them are ex roadies. I think it's absolutely brilliant just to be getting out on a bike at that age. Love the tricycle guy.

I can only hope that when I reach my older age, I can still enjoy riding. My branch of the sport, audax, is full of gnarly old boys in their 70s and 80s who can still mix it up with us youngsters (about to hit 40).

I have much to learn and much to aim for.

Whaada ya mean gnarly - I'm over 70 and don't feel that.

There's a lot of talk on here about beating 30 mins for a 10 mile time trial (ie just over20mph). Check out the national veteran's record for an 81 year old over 100 miles, just under 5 hours or just over 20mph.

That 81 year old's national veterans record must be on an expensive quick Italian machine

    That'll be a Ducati then...

I'll be glad to still be waking up in a morning at 100.
