  • Garmin won't sell you one.

I contacted them and got a "we like to ensure the integrity of all our units" etc. etc. so they won't sell you a case, even though it is a very simple job to change them over.

    Perhaps purchase a busted one.

Anyone know if you can get the little rubber USB cover? Mine has seems to have done a bunk. Currently using some electrical tape to cover it up, but I'd like to get a replacement cover if possible.

I phoned Garmin and they posted one out to me free of charge. Seemingly, they have lots of them from faulty units that are returned to them. When you get a replacement, put a spot of superglue on the rubber prongs to stop it coming loose again.

I have found a solution! A local retailer had a display unit for a Garmin 500 which is no longer being sold. I was able to combine the outer shell from the display (did not include the guts) with the inner parts from my older unit. Works perfectly but probably only one of these shells per retailer. At least it is a solution for now.
