Can anyone recommend some cheap and reliable wheels for cross racing cheers.

Heavy and bombproof = Aksiums
Lighter and more suited to CX - Velocity A23 rims on 32 hole Novatec hubs and double-butted spokes should be a shade over £200. Go for the tubeless versions too.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
