So checking BC this evening and CC's Thursday night summer series is just one race and not split this year?

E,1,2,3 and 4ths all in?

Comments

  • No it's split. That's a mistake on the calendar.

It'll be the same as last year except the E12 race is band 5 (10 points for win) instead of band 3.

Looking forward to seeing you smash up a few races again this year!

It'll presumably be a handicap but they do sometimes just put things down as one race. Might ride a few this year but it gets a bit pricey with the bridge toll.
  • I checked with Jacqui back in December and got the following reply from the Event Development Officer at British Cycling.

    """
Thanks for your email, Jacqui has forwarded it on to me.

There is indeed an error in the listings, it will be two races, one of 3/4 and one of E/1/2/3 and the amendment will be listed on the events calendar shortly.

    However…

As of 2013 ALL weekday circuit races on fixed facilities such as Castle Combe, Mountbatten etc will be Regional C+ and therefore Band 5 points. Weekend circuit races can still run as Band 3 National B (if they choose), however midweek circuit races, no matter which categories they’re open to, will be subject to Band 5 points. Please note that midweek circuits such as Tour Series and other town centre crits are exempt from this, it is only the established cycle-specific venues where this rule change will apply.
    """

I'm not sure why the website hasn't been updated.

banding is a stupid rule that only hurts 2nd cats in an attempt to reduce elite numbers...

Wouldnt be as bad if crits were run e/1 & 2/3 & 4
  • It looks like the new Odd Down circuit in Bath is going to have racing on Tuesday nights all summer with E12, 2/3 and 3/(4) races, at least every second week when VC Walcot are running things. More 2/3 circuit races down this way would be great.

    (There _is_ one: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/event ... port-Races )

BTW, the events calendar now shows the two races at Castle Combe:

    https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/event ... r-Series-2

It's listed as an E12 race this year though and not an E123 like last year. Zoomer37: You're going to have to smash the 3/4 race up a few more times this year so you can get your 2nd cat licence.

If I get my lazy @ss down there each Thursday, I'll hopefully move up this year. Much better/safer race last summer in the E123 category.

That Odd Down circuit looks mental. That long fast stretch into the left hander is going to cause carnage
