A former teammate of his once told me he’d seen him ride up a cobbled climb, front tire feet off the ground, both hands off the bars. Would you believe it?

Yes I have seen it on youtube...
    Link?

Ill look for it tonight, its only a recording off the tv but its clear enough to see the great man at action.

I’ve raced against a few of our domestic pros, and apart from being very fast (as you might expect) the one thing that struck me was that they change gear a lot more frequently than I do, and that they are utterly fearless when it comes to descending.

Not me, but a friend of mine took part in a hill climb competition on North Hill in Essex and Alex Dowsett turned up to have a go. My mate is a good quality club rider but he finished nearly two and a half minutes behind Alex. He said it was a fantastic display and , for him, completely underlined the difference in quality between a pro and a club rider!

This is me out on a ride with Rob Hayles last month (I'm the one with the white sleeves). I'm sure if he were to put on the afterburners I would not have been right behind him! Stuck with him for about 35 mile though.

I used to warm up with this man in the 80's at Salford park track Birmingham, he had a wicked turn of speed when he was racing

'some Irish fella called Stephen Roche'

...@Pros. Please tell me you are joking. Watching this vid still gets the waterworks going. For me, literally the greatest moment in cycling

That's how Sagan went over the finish line today (after winning a Flemish classic) :).
