Hello all,
I'm picking my bike up on Saturday and cant wait to get out there and clock the miles 8) But, being a newb to two wheels I'm asking your advice and knowledge about what I should be thinking about carrying with me at a minimum? I plan on getting a small carry bag from my LBS tomorrow along with a puncture kit and a multi tool.. But what else do you carry just in case?
Cheers

Hope you enjoy the ride, the weekend might just be decent riding weather!
I carry pump, spare tube, tyre levers, some tissues, money, card, phone, keys and depending on length of ride food e.g. banana and flapjacks and maybe one gel.Scott Speedster S20 Roadie for Speed

Most people would carry a spare inner tube as repairing a puncture on the side of the road isn't fun and not always possible, you'll also need a pump to inflate it (as a friend of mine forgot this weekend!). Carry the repair kit too, just in case.
I also carry a mobile phone and some cash, just in case I pass a nice looking pub and some food if the ride is going to be more than a few hours:)Cannondale CAAD 10 Ultegra

I take 2 tubes, levers, multi tool with chain splitter and quick link in my saddle bag + pump attached to the bike
I take my phone, money, ID, keys and food in my pockets.0 -
Enough to repair 2 punctures. Or one tubular.

If you want to keep the need for tools and spares to a minimum, then invest in regular maintenance. As a bare minimum I'd suggest: spare tube, sticky patches, tyre levers, pump, mini-tool and spare chainlink - apart from the pump, keep everything in a seatpack or pouch in your jersey pocket.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

oh and at this time of year a rainproof cape/gilet that can fold into a pocket.
Dont bother with a bag, get a saddle bag and keep the rest on you.Scott Speedster S20 Roadie for Speed
