Which is why I have an LX5.
No matter the topic, it's always best to use the right tool.
The right tool may be the one that is most convenient, or it may be the one that gives the best results.
That's why it's better to decide "what for" and "why" before "which".

Edit:- Back OT. If you can decide what to go for use a combination of Google shopping and "collect from store".
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

  • I would buy another Lumix TZ-whatever at the drop of a hat. Compact, nice wide lens, manual mode and loads of scene modes.

The only thing wrong with it? Keep it in a case, when the lens expands it sucks in any pocket lint on the front of the camera straight onto the sensor. You can clean it yourself but it's a tricky job.
  • If anyone is still looking a Panasonic TZ25 for less than a ton looks like a bit of a deal
Nobody told me we had a communication problem

    Seriously

Don't look any further than the Canon Digital Ixus. It properly, properly kicks ass. Several hundred quids worth of very good technology for just over a hundred quid.

Make sure you get one with a rechargeable battery.

I'm still using my aged Olympus e-10

If nothing else, if anyone attacks me while I'm using it, I can beat them to death with it.
