I had my heart set on a Canyon but was browsing at the online bike shops when Winstanleys made me an offer I couldn't say no too. Shortly after I took possession of my new Basso frame. Spent the week between Christmas and NY building it up. Found the cables were the hardest part.

Basso Diamante 2011
Ultegra 6700 groupset
FSA k-wing bars
Prologo Scratch saddle
Williams carbon wheels, seatpost and stem
Jagwire cables

My first Italian bike. Ride is lively yet very comfy. Very happy :D

    Top drawer!

Love those williams wheels. Any chance of a bit of a road report on them?

Awesome! I bet you're glad you got that instead of the Canyon! :D

I have no idea what's going on here.

If it wasn't for the williams branding, i would say it was spot on.
I think the choice of silver ultegra was a very good one.
I would be very happy with it. Good work.

Love it, very busy but thats how I like my bikes.
the deeper the section the deeper the pleasure.
  • Sometimes I find the Williams branding a bit too much, but most of the time I like it. The other wheels it sometimes wears are Dura-ace C24's which completely change the look.

The Williams wheels have been really good - money well spent. They have been absolutely bullet-proof; I've owned them for 2 years and had no issues at all. I can really feel that they help maintain momentum at speeds above 35kp/h. Mostly I notice how comfortable they are - on long rides they take the buzz out of the road. My brother bought a pair a year after I got mine, and his has better spokes and hubs, but not so much better that I would bother to change.

I was so impressed with the value and service from Keith Williams that I chose a Williams seat post and stem. The seat post looks to be identical to a friends Pinarello Dogma. I suspect it might actually be made by Deda.

I'll see if I can find a pic of the bike with the dura-ace wheels.
  • I also put a pic up of my old Cervelo R3 wearing the Williams wheels. The R3 is more understated so it doesn't look overly busy with the Williams wheels.

This must be something in the flesh - you must be glad you did not get the canyon now.

I am glad I didn't get the Canyon, though I still really like them. Canyon don't ship to Australia so I was working out a way around that when the Basso kind of fell into my lap at a bargain price. Compared to my previous Cervelo R3 the frame tubes are huge. It's stiff but still easy to ride for hours.
