One of my favourite Edinburgh bike-shops, The Bike Chain in Rodney Street appears to be either sold or amalgamated into the Edinbugh Bike Co-Op. I've not passed it recently but I went for a browse on the old website tonight and get a press-release page...

I'm too new to the city to remember it as City Cycles.

I know that there was a shop unit next door that The Bike Chain were not using, maybe they will open that up now for more space.

A least it is still a bike shop. Better that than another bike shop disappearing.

Edinburgh Bike CoOp are really good IMHO!

  • but you still had to go and buy a ribble and kill the high street!!!! only joking fd, hope the new stealth machine is as good as they say, looks a smasher - what wheels u choose?
aye edinburgh bike coop are top quality, my fav are velo ecosse but i feel rotten for them as i got a bike from btwin, the claud is getting on a bit so shes been consigned to the turbo, less can go wrong and shes running old 7sp cassette so you can imagine the spares nightmare if i take a tumble
never thought id buy from a big chain, first time for everything though - and the service was extremely good and very friendly - orange and black bike shop take note, a halfa-rello in your range wont save you - so big thumbs up to the frenchies for vfm

Used to use bike chain for the odd fix on my old mtb ... Now use Ronde in Stockbridge for work on my road bike, no reason to fault the service thus far ...

Just the other side of the Scotmid ... It has a double frontage for the shop/cafe ...

They've currently got one of Froome's TdF bikes in the shop if you need an excuse to go for a nosey ...
  • oh i like a good nosey, the guys at alpine, now trek, glasgow had fabian cancellaras bike in a few months back, i got to sit on it which was nice, some bespoke paintwork though! ill be down over the weekend to check it
